Volunteers from the Wilkes Humane Society are here every Tuesday evening from 6pm to 7pm to sign pets up for low cost spaying and neutering.  Please bring proof of income, personal ID.  Payment is taken at the time of registration.

Apr 22   GREAT WILKES ADAP TIP-OFF LUNCHEON
The Great Wilkes ADAP, Inc. Tip Off Luncheon supports Wilkes ADAP and its mission  to "provide the necessary services and supports to enable adults with developmental disabilities to become full participating members of our community."  Money raised from this event helps to cover operational cost.  It is a fun event where patrons receive a meal and are served by "local celebraties."  There is also a silent auction at this event.  Tickets need to be purchased by April 11th.  Cost is $15.00.  Brushy Mtn. Smokehouse/Jeff Swofford caters this event.  This is our 24th luncheon.  Tickets are available now!!!
Presently, we serve 40 clients and we work throughout Wilkes County.  We have a janitorial crew, yard crew, Housekeeping crew and a crew that bake OTIS SPUNKMEYER cookies daily at our agency.  We would appreciate all support.

Apr 23   Downtown Running Club-North Wilkesboro
The Downtown Running Club will meet each Wednesday at 5:30 pm on the corner of Main and 9th by North Wilkesboro Town Hall.  This is a run-at-your-own pace adventure around town.

The group will run the Start With Your Heart route and end at 6th & Main Restaurant for more fellowship and a frosty beverage.  No entry fees or registration, just show up on time.  If you need to skip a week here and there, it's cool we'll still be here when you get back!

MerleFest, considered on of the premier music festivals in the country, is an annual homecoming of musicians and music fans held on the campus of Wilkes Community College.    MerleFest was founded in 1988 in memory of the late Eddy Merle Watson, son of the late American music legend Doc Watson. A unique mix of music based on the traditional, roots-oriented sounds of the Appalachian region. From Bluegrass to country, blues,  rock and everything in between.

Join us for a tour of our camp and get all of your questions answered. If you are new to Camp Harrison this is a great chance to find out what to bring, how to prepare your camper, and all of the other details you are wondering about. Staff will be available to give tours of the facility or lead you on a hike to our overlook. WAFS meets the fourth Monday of each month at the Watson Stage on the Campus of Wilkes Community College April thru September.

October thru March the meetings are held at the Wilkes Heritage Museum.
