    The Wilkes Heritage Museum, home of the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame, is located in the heart of historic downtown Wilkesboro in the old 1902 Wilkes County Courthouse. Explore the fascinating heritage of Wilkes County and northwest North Carolina through exhibits, guided tours and special events. Step back in time while touring the 1779 home of Captain Robert Cleveland, a Wilkes County militia leader during the American Revolution. Stand inside the jail cell of the infamous Tom ''Dooley'' Dula at the 1859 Old Wilkes County Jail. Through a collection of artifacts and images, numerous stories of early settlement, military history, industry, agriculture, medicine, communication, education, entertainment, and transportation are told. Seasonal ghost tours, festivals, concerts, exhibit openings are held throughout the year. The museum gift shop has a variety of local crafts, books and music. The Wilkes Heritage Museum is a great family, school and group destination. Open Mon. - Fri. 10am-4pm and on Sat. by appointment or for special events. An admission fee is charged.
